About Cornalin

Cornalin is an indigenous Valais red grape that was nearly extinct by the 1970s, saved by a handful of dedicated winegrowers. It produces deeply colored, velvety reds with intense aromas of dark berries, violets, and wild herbs. The grape is notoriously difficult to grow — it buds early (risking spring frost) and ripens late (demanding the best south-facing slopes), which is why production remains small and prices are high.

The revival of Cornalin is one of Swiss wine's great success stories. Tasting it at its source in Valais is an experience unavailable anywhere else in the world.
